This was another week of learning new skills and ways to improve our digital fluency.
One application that I was really excited that we talked about today was Google Draw. Google Draw is a platform that a lot of my colleagues talk about but I was yet to use. I feel like I will use this tool when making buttons for my class site which I am very excited about.
It was cool to talk with other facilitators such as Cheryl and Gerhard. With Gerhard we talked through Google Draw. I was excited to see how this could be used in the classroom and I know that a lot of my students will enjoy some art based activities using this application. I liked the idea of using Google Draw to create self portraits and I think this is an art idea that I will use in the classroom.
Cheryl taught us about making a slideshow representing a song which I have embedded below. I feel a lot more confident embedding slideshows into the blog now which will help myself and my class.
I'm looking forward to week four of the DFI.
Tools that I think I will use:
- Word Art
- Londrina Font
- Google Draw
- Searching for images using png.
Kia ora Helena,
ReplyDeleteIt was great working with you in our little digital bubble on using Slides in the afternoon.
your completed slides look great. The addition of the images/icons add meaning to the waiata. Now that you have used Drawing and Slides I encourage you to explore them more as they use the same toolbar and you can do so much in them.

Thank you Cherly for your comment. I agree they are excellent platforms. Thank you for showing me the ways in which they can be used with music. Helena
DeleteKia ora Helena,
ReplyDeleteIt is really great to read about the excitement you feel about the new skills you are learning. Google Draw is super great to use and you can do so much with it, not just drawing, as others often think. Your slideshow was great as well. I loved the images you used to support the words. What would have made it extra wow would have had the music embeded into it to play as you looked at the slideshow. Maybe someone could show you how to do that.
I could see on Wednesday that your confidence in the digital has grown so much. It was really great to watch you teach your class about URL's and the omnibox. I don't know if you can see how much your confidence and knowledge has grown in such a short time. You should be really proud of yourself.
I look forward to reading your next blog post and finding out what other exciting things you have done.
:) Sharon
Kia ora Sharon,
DeleteThank you so much for your lovely comment. I didn't know what an omnibox was at the start of this year! There has been so much new learning this year and I am so grateful for the DFI/Maniakalani and my supportive co-workers for helping me.
I agree - audio would have really added to this slideshow.
Thank you,
Helena
Kia ora Helena,
ReplyDeleteIt is great seeing your continued growth and hearing your excitement. Adding audio would be awesome for you to learn on a slide as this will support some of your learners with accessing the content.
What connected with you from Dorothy's introduction into the Create?
Nga mihi,
Mark
Hi Mark,
DeleteThank you for your comment. I would love to work with you sometime on how to add the audio in. I will have a play around and see what I can do.
Nga mihi,
Helena
